Ekiden Relay

Just starting a car sharing thread (plus anything else relay related that crops up!). Me and Jase can no longer offer lifts, as we're getting one ourselves with Claire and Paul. However, Dennis has room for a couple more in his car from the Dovercourt area.
Looking at the course map, there is a short stay car park immediately to the left of the entrance which is the place to go if you're doing an earlier leg and wish to make a sharp exit afterwards. Those on a later leg and/or staying for the whole event (and the Friday 5 Series prize giving big_smile) will need to drive further into the college, where there is a long stay car park towards the back of the grounds. As Peter said at club last night, there are going to be over 500 runners there, so it'll be best to car share as much as poss and get there early to nab a parking space! If anyone can offer a lift, please post on here...

Re: Ekiden Relay

Lisa-if Dennis no longer has room available in his car, Jonathon Burls has space in his car if needed. Let me know, and I'll pass on his number to you.

Re: Ekiden Relay

Thank you all for making the day what it was!! We had several last minute changes on the teams and a few people swapped over to different distances to accommodate this-the flexibility there was really appreciated big_smile Really enjoyed it today (which is saying something when I had a bad run!!). Highlights for me were Tim's very civilised cheese, chutney and biscuits (we'll get the Pimms in for next year wink), the trophy presentation and the Team Pearce/Team Flutter challenge. Quote of the day must surely go to Paula (on watching Richard F run round alongside Anna): "is he going all the way with her?" yikes

Results are now up on www.ipswichjaffa.org.uk In brief, however....

Mens A Team (Brian/Matt S/Rob/Mark R/Jase/Sam): 3rd in 2.31.21
Male Vets (Richard N/Joe Cool/Paul Mc/Tim/Gary/Justin): 3rd in their category in 2.52.44
Ladies A Team (Kate/Harriet/Karen/Ann/Becky/Claire B): 6th in 3.16.08
Lady Vets (Curly/Mila/Angela/Lauren/Miranda/Anna A): 5th in their category in 3.51.58
And in the challenge.....
Team Pearce (Dennis/Ian/Dan/Colin H/Martin/Paul C): 3.17.25
Team Flutter (Steve K/Nick/Richard F/Lisa/Jonathon/Russ): 3.17.42
Just 17 seconds in it!! yikes Well done to both teams for such a great race to watch and cheer on smile

A few PBs scored as well-Angela, Karen (V40 club record too!), Lisa, Harriet, plus Russ and Lauren I think. Takes some doing on that twisty grass course in the warm weather today...

I still have a few 5 Sweatshop vouchers left, so there must be some of you out there who didn't claim one! I'll bring them in to club on Tuesday and you can nab one then. Also got a few 3s still to collect, but I won't send the boys round yet...

Re: Ekiden Relay

Just want to say thanks to everyone for the great cheering, it was pretty brutal out there by the time my leg came round so I really appreciated it!
Big cheer for Becky for the organising and baking (I will see you tomorrow to claim my voucher).
Peter and Paula for being there to keep track of everyone and supervising gazebo and flag erecting (I feel sure that one day there will be a Harwich flag on top of Everest!
Big up to Dan for the lift.
Well done to Karen for taking my club record.
Finally, to my team mates in the Ladies Vets for helping to knock 1hour off my marathon PB (or does it not count ?)
